Environmental Management Plans (EMP)

Highway Maintenance Contractors are required by contract to create and use an environmental management plan at their maintenance yards. An EMP provides direction on the handling, storage and use of hazardous materials including salt found at these yards. By having an EMP, the probability of release to environment can be reduced and any impacts mitigated. But EMPs can be used my any industry that handles and stores hazardous materials.
