First of all, thanks so much for getting this far on the Jeneric website. We appreciate your interest in our company, and we look forward to working with you and your organization in the future.  As our first blog post, it was suggested that an explanation of the lamp logo would make for a good first post.

My sister, when we showed her our new logo was skeptical commenting that she didn’t see how the lamppost related to our business. Fair point from her, so as our inaugural blog post, I thought that I would explain ourselves. To start, there is a bit of backstory which was the inspiration for the lamp. Along the edge of our driveway, we have several carriage lampposts. A few years ago, a friend of ours was storing her camping trailer in our yard for the summer. One day, she gets invited to go camping with friends and comes to get her trailer. Likely thinking more of the upcoming fire pit shenanigans and wanting to fill the water tank, she miscalculated the turn radius of her rig taking out a lamppost with the side of the trailer as tried to maneuver closer to the water tap. Fortunately, for her and the trailer, this was not the first time that this particular lamppost had been struck and damaged (and not by us). The previous homeowner had affected repairs to the post, but the fracture in the metal had remained a weak point. So, when she hit the post, the “repair” easily failed and the resulting damage to the side of the trailer was minimized.

Following the incident, I renamed a text group that my wife and I had with her, jokingly calling it the  “The Lamppost Chronicles”.  Our friend willingly paid for a new post and even help install it. At the time, only a small distraction and a slightly embarrassing story for our friend.

Skipping forward to early 2018, when Jen and I were thinking about a logo for Jeneric. As we batted ideas around, the story of the lamppost came up. And that was the beginning of the logo. So, what does it mean to us? The purpose of the lamps along the side of the driveway or a path is to provide light so someone can find their way to their destination quickly and safely. Therefore, the lamp logo is to symbolize Jeneric’s commitment to help our clients get to their project goals quickly and efficiently. So when we look out the front windows of our house or when we look at the logo, wea re reminded of the backstory and our aim of helping our clients achieve success.
